Minutes of the Annual Business Meeting

President Janet Sain called the annual business session to order at 5:36 PM. 

 

Secretary Sandy Neel was recognized.  The minutes of the 2004 annual business session were presented for review.

 

A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the 2004 business session held during the annual conference at the Sheraton in Birmingham, AL.  The motion was passed.

 

Karen Koonce was recognized to give the Treasurer’s report for Lester McKenzie.  The budget for 2005 was presented.  The 2005 budget was submitted for audit.

 

Janet Sain asked NASFAA Chair, George Chin to come forward to present the NASFAA Regional Leadership Award. Dave Gelinas was presented the award and gave a few remarks. 

 

 

Immediate Past President Ron Day was recognized and made the report from the Nominations and Elections Committee.  The members of the committee were recognized.  The committee’s recommendations were:

 

                President-Elect   Brent Tener, Vanderbilt University, TN

                                                Leonard Gude, University of South Florida, FL

                                               

 

                Vice President     Debra Tolly Tollefson, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, NC

                                                Maureen McFarland, Valencia Community College, FL

 

                Treasurer             Heather Boutell, Univ. of Louisville, KY

                                                Paul Mittlehammer, Citibank, GA

 

President Sain asked for nominations from the floor for the office of President-Elect.  There being none, the nominations were closed.  Nominations for Vice President from the floor were solicited.  There being none, the nominations were closed.  Nominations from the floor were asked for the office of Treasurer.  There being none, the nominations were closed.

 

A motion was made and seconded to close the nominations.  The motion carried.

 

Nominees were asked to make a statement in support of their candidacy.  Keith Reeves served as official timekeeper.  After the candidacy statements were made, Past President Day asked Marvin Ragland to give a PowerPoint presentation on the voting procedures.  Ron Day thanked Marvin for his presentation then  announced the location of the voting area and the times the computers booth would be available for voting.

The business session was recessed at 6:04 p.m.

President Sain recognized the following individuals for their service to SASFAA:  Ron Day, Past President; Zita Barree, Vice President and Lester Mckenzie, Treasurer.

 

Bill Fron, John Burns, Marilyn Clark-Watkins, and Judy Deines were recognized with Honorary Memberships.

 

The SASFAA Distinguished Service Award was presented to Bob Godfrey.

 

Special Recognition was given to Francine Reeves. A special thanks was given to Dee Talley and Karen Fooks.

 

 

February 15, 2005

 

President Sain reconvened the business meeting at 7:44 PM on February 15, 2005 in the Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

 

Past President Day was recognized and announced the results of the election.  Those elected were:

 

                President-Elect   Brent Tener, Vanderbilt University, TN

 

                Vice President     Debra Tolly Tollefson, UNC-Greensboro, NC

 

                Treasurer             Heather Boutell, Univ. of Louisville, KY

 

Past President Day thanked all the candidates. Ron Day reported that there were 565 votes cast.

 

A motion was made and seconded to destroy the paper ballots and the electronic tally.  The motion carried.

 

 

 

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the business session at 7:48 PM.  The motion was carried.
