CONFERENCE CHECKLIST
Community Service Project: Community Partners for Children has dedicated itself to assisting children in need since 1991. Throughout the year they collect school supplies, in addition to other items, and distribute them to disadvantaged children. SASFAA members will have an opportunity, at the conference, to help Community Partners for Children in its all-important efforts to support the children of the community by making monetary donations or donations of school supplies or backpacks. More details about the giving opportunities will be provided as the conference draws nearer so please stay tuned.
Elections: SASFAA officer elections will be held during the conference. Candidate speeches will occur at the Opening Session on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Online voting stations will be available in the Conference Support Center in Exhibition A on Monday and Tuesday. Times will be posted in your conference program. Please retrieve your SASFAA password for online voting.
Internet Access: You will have access to a computer lab to check your e-mail and browse the Internet. Each hotel guest room also has high speed wireless Internet access and data port (fees apply).
Meals on Your Own: Dinner on Monday night and lunch on Tuesday will be on your own but you will receive information about meal/restaurant options in your registration packets at the conference.
New Aid Officer’s Pre-Conference Workshop: On Sunday, February 17th from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm learn the basics of Financial Aid. When registering, please check the box showing you are interested in attending this workshop. If you have any questions, please e-mail Sandy Neel at sneel@utm.edu.
Packing: Dress for the conference will be business casual (that means no suits are necessary). However, the banquet attire for Tuesday night is “jean casual” and you are encouraged to wear attire that reflects the year/decade you entered the profession. Wednesday, February 20th is School Spirit Day so please wear something that promotes the school you work for or attended. In addition, do not forget your business cards to share when meeting new colleagues.
Parking: Valet Parking is the only option and is available for a fee of $23 per day.
Pre-conference Seminars: these will be held on Sunday, February 17th. Details about the seminars can be found under the “Pre-Conference Seminars” link on the Conference Mini Site. The first seminar, “Financial Management Issues for Treasurers of State Associations” will be held from 9 am – noon and the second seminar titled “A Legislative Symposium – Communicating with and Influencing Legislative Staff” will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Both seminars are free but please follow registration instructions available at the “Pre-Conference Seminars” link.
President’s Reception: The President’s Reception will be held on Sunday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and will be followed by Game Night. Come meet and greet your SASFAA colleagues.
Registration: Don’t forget, you may pre-register for the conference online at www.sasfaa.org by selecting “Conferences” from the left side menu options, then selecting “Click Here to Visit the Conference Site” and finally clicking on “Conference Registration.” The Registration area will be located in the Exhibit Foyer located on the Exhibition Level directly outside the Exhibition Hall.
Travel: Directions and local transportation options are available under the “Travel Information” link on the Conference Mini Site.
Wednesday Breakfast/Closing Session: when scheduling your travel to and from the conference, please take note that a Federal update and news from NASFAA will be provided at the breakfast and closing session on Wednesday between 9:00 – 11:30 am.
