Community Service Project

Charity Information

SASFAA is a service organization, and not only do we work together to serve our students, but we impact our communities as well. This year our charity is not only working on the state level, but regional and national, too. You should be able to see the fruits of our donation with your students, on your campus, and in your community.

The charity that has been selected is Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic – Learning Through Listening®. RFB&D is a nonprofit organization and the nation's leading educational library serving people who cannot effectively read standard print because of visual impairment, learning disability, dyslexia, or other physical disability. RFB&D serves all educational levels, from kindergarten through post-graduate school and beyond, in a broad range of subjects, providing navigational audio textbooks read by trained volunteers familiar with the subject areas of the texts. RFB&D's research based tools create opportunities for individual success; their vision is for all people to have equal access to the printed word.

RFB&D is a perfect fit for SASFAA - their mission is the same as ours - Providing Resources to Students. For more information about RFB&D please follow this link to view an article from the 2006-07 winter issue of Sandlapper magazine: http://www.knowitall.org/sandlapper/Winter-2006/PDFs/5_AudioBks.pdf.
