I hope you guys are doing well and have had the opportunity of viewing the “new” SASFAA web page – www.sasfaa.org . It is absolutely wonderful. Erik Melis and his sub-committee deserve such praise for the design, layout, and ultimately bringing to fruition this massive endeavor. Thank you, Erik!

I want to report to you several items. Following the August SASFAA board meeting, I attended a variety of SASFAA and NASFAA activities. I attended the following:

  • AASFAA Fall Conference – Auburn University
  • RMASFAA (Rocky Mountain) – NASFAA Inter-regional visit in Big Sky, MT
  • SASFAA Conference Meeting – Greensboro, NC
  • NASFAA Finance Committee Meeting – Washington, DC

A big thanks should go to Janet Sain and other SASFAA Executive Board members for updating the states regarding SASFAA information. Janet Sain, SASFAA President-Elect, designed a spreadsheet for needs, dates, locations, hosts, airport information, and time of presentation of the SASFAA update for both the state fall and spring conferences.

I would also like to recognize all the members of the board for their hard work on various projects. The sub-committees continue to work to achieve their goals. Many of the sub-committees have discovered that their work will continue into next year.

Freida Jones, SASFAA VP, has worked very hard on all the various workshops. The sites have been determined and Freida will post information on the web in the very near future.

Thanks should also go to Susan Little and Clark Aldridge, Co-Chairs of the Past President’s Task Force, for their hard work. Susan presented five suggestions and recommendation to the board that will require further work. The board is very excited about working on these suggestions and ultimately making SASFAA even stronger.

Karen Fooks has agreed to chair the Management Institute for December 2004. She has selected a great group to assist her. A planning meeting has been set for December to begin the process of developing an agenda and other aspects of this wonderful workshop.

I am very excited about the 2004 SASFAA Annual Conference – “Access – the Key to Brighter Futures” – to be held in Birmingham February 15 - 18, 2004. Under the direction of Zita Barree, and the Conference Committee, a wonderful agenda has been designed. Please make sure you go the web site (www.sasfaa.org) and click on the Conference tab for further information regarding the agenda, the hotel arrangements, travel information, and so much more. Make your plans now to attend.
