SASFAA Management Institute
The SASFAA Management Institute will be held at the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. The event, which is sponsored by SASFAA, every four to five years, is scheduled to begin Friday, December 10, 2004, and to end on Sunday, December 12th. The Institute is a learning experience that is focused on the management concerns of senior financial aid administrators. The Institute topics will center around the broad themes of college cost and affordability and expanded through discussions on demographic trends, the economic outlook of education and the public policy perspective from Washington D.C. In addition to a stimulating and thought-provoking discussion with your colleagues, participants will take away specific skill-building information on managing the media, presenting your case to senior administrators through persuasive writing and effective presentations. The Institute’s speakers include Jacqueline E. King, the founding director of the Center for Policy Analysis at the American Council on Education. Ms.King has been featured on CNN and in national publications such as Time, USA Today and the Washington Post. Stephen Brooks, Executive Director of the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, along with Ms.Shirley Ort, Vice Provost and Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid, UNC – Chapel Hill, will provide guidance on developing briefing papers for senior management that will help you “drive home your point”. Participants will leave with examples in hand.
In addition to a comprehensive agenda that will engage you and provide ample opportunities for discussion (and perhaps, debate) with your colleagues, you will also be treated to an evening reception at the Biltmore Historic Horse Barn. For those with additional time, consider a candlelight tour of the Biltmore Estate during the holiday season. You may purchase tickets on line at www.biltmore.com.
