OCTOBER 2004

Report from the Treasurer
Lester McKenzie

Welcome back to a new school year. I don't know about you but things are changing all over the place around here. Some news: I recently resigned from my position at Lees-McRae College and am going to work for ELM Resources. While this new opportunity will bring new and exciting changes for me, it should not present any changes in my role as Treasurer. The Post Office Box that I currently use will continue to be the address you can send forms and payments to. I will continue to process reimbursements electronically through Bank of America. If there are any changes to current procedure I will inform all via the listserve.

Karen Koonce and I are planning to meet in the next few months to begin work on the 03/04 audit and tax return. We will once again be using the expertise of Anne Rochester, Edamerica. An updated copy of the 04/05 Budget Report can be found on the SASFAA website. Let me know if you have any questions.

As of today, I have received 32 registrants for the Management Institute to be held at the wonderful Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. If you want to attend please make sure you send in your registration as space is limited and once we get to that goal we can't accept any more. If you have any questions about registering, you may contact me at mckenzie317@skybest.com.

Look forward to seeing each of you as the year progresses towards the conference in Atlanta.

The 2004-05 SASFAA Membership Committee will develop a new SASFAA brochure that details the benefits of membership and explains who we are and what we do. The brochure will be modeled after VASFAA’s membership piece. Permission to do so has been granted by VASFAA. Our plan is to tailor the brochure information to institutions, institutional presidents, and legislative personnel so that we can increase awareness of SASFAA.
