Candidate for SASFAA President-Elect
Brent B. Tener

Brent TenerCandidate Statement
It is an honor to be placed on the ballot for the office of SASFAA President-Elect. If elected, I will provide effective leadership and direction for our association and help discover new and innovative ways to deliver training and support to the SASFAA region. As my resume indicates, I have held numerous leadership positions within and outside of the financial aid community, and I believe my diverse leadership experience will be an asset to the organization. In addition, I have the full support of the Vanderbilt administration and have the necessary time and energy to devote to this endeavor. I have had the opportunity to work at both public and private post-secondary institutions and bring the perspective of both environments to enhance my candidacy.

As President of the Tennessee Association of Financial Aid Administrators (TASFAA), I worked with our Executive Board to identify major goals for the organization and together we outlined a total of 46 initiatives to help achieve those goals. A total of 41 of those initiatives were either completed during my year as President or accomplished during the subsequent year. As SASFAA President, I will use a similar strategy with the Executive Board (in concert with the SASFAA long-range strategic plan) to determine our common goals, identify the initiatives to meet these goals and provide the leadership to achieve the desired results.
