Maureen McFarlane

Maureen McFarlaneCandidate Statement
I am honored to have been nominated for Vice President for Training for SASFAA. I have been involved in training for several years as I feel strongly that training is the basis of succeeding in this profession. I have had the privilege of serving as Vice President of FASFAA in 2003 – 2004. During this time, I coordinated the Financial Aid Essentials Workshop, as well as, the Experienced Aid Workshop. In addition, I have served on FASFAA’s Training Committee for several years and I have been a presenter as various conferences, workshops, and region meetings. I have presented with USDOE in their Spring Training Series in 2003 and I have been an instructor at the SASFAA Summer Workshop for SASFAA in 2000 and 2001. Currently, I am the Coordinator of Financial Aid Training for Valencia Community College. These experiences along with many other training opportunities have allowed me the opportunity to grow professionally, as well as, assist others in doing our job - assisting students. For many, the purpose of being involved in a professional organization is for the opportunities for training and development, therefore, training is an integral part of this association. As Vice President for training, my goal is to make opportunities for SASFAA members both meaningful and memorable and I hope to improve on what already is a great organization.
