| Candidate for SASFAA Treasurer
My experiences with SASFAA began in 1997, when after working in financial aid for six years, I attended the New Aid Officers Workshop. The week proved to be a time of intense learning, sharing, and networking, and I am proud that some of my instructors and fellow attendees are now my closest and most respected colleagues. I caught a glimpse of SASFAA at that time. I later had the opportunity to start attending conferences, and then to serve on committees. This year I am a member of the SASFAA Board as Kentucky President, and I have learned so much about the organization. I want to be an integral part of SASFAA because I believe its mission meets the ever-increasing needs of the financial aid administrator. The treasurer position requires accountability and knowledge of the entire organization – the treasurer’s actions affect every committee, elected Board member, and general member of SASFAA. Kentucky gave me the privilege of serving as its Treasurer for two years, and it by far was my favorite job in the association. The position required a lot of time, organization, and dedication, and it was enjoyable. If elected, I promise to give SASFAA the same amount of attention I gave Kentucky in this role. My institution, the University of Louisville, pledges its support to me to run for Treasurer. My husband and two sons also want me to run because they know how much I have come to enjoy SASFAA and its membership. I would appreciate your consideration for this position.
