Audit & Finance Committee Report
Clark Aldridge, Chair

I want to thank the following individuals for agreeing to serve on the 2005-2006 Audit and Finance Committee:

  • Ben Baker, Director of Financial Aid, University of North Alabama
  • Randy Craig, Director of Campus Operations, Collegiate Funding Services
  • Lester McKenzie, Director of Financial Aid, Tennessee Technological University
  • Chris Tolson, Director of Financial Aid, Campbellsville University

The Committee will meet October 21-23 to conduct a review of the 2004-2004 SASFAA financial records. The results of the financial review will be presented to the Board at the February 2006 SASFAA Board meeting in Greensboro, North Carolina.
One certificate of deposit will come up for renewal in September. The good news is that, short term interest rates are going up therefore our rate of return should be higher than what we have experience over the past several years.

Diversity Committee Report
Crusie Lucero, Chair - Northeast State Community College

The SASFAA Diversity Committee met via conference call August 23, 2005. We reviewed the objectives and issues assigned to the committee; reviewed the results of the membership survey regarding diversity; discussed sessions and presenters for the SASFAA Conference; and planned a time and place for a committee meeting.

The committee discussed the possibilities of having a Multicultural Leadership breakfast or luncheon instead of having a Multicultural Leadership Symposium the day before the conference as was done the prior year because it was so sparsely attended. They hope to have more members participate if it can be scheduled during the conference.

The committee is planning to meet in Atlanta, GA after the Electronic Access Conference December 2-4, 2005. Most of the committee was planning to attend the conference and would remain for the committee meeting thus saving SASFAA some travel money.
