SASFAA Web Tips – How to Keep Your Contact Information Updated

With the new SASFAA web site, each person is empowered to keep their contact information up to date so that any mailings, e-mails, or other contacts can be made in a timely manner. The procedures below outline for you how to keep your contact information up to date.

To update your member profile, you must be an active, paid member for the current SASFAA year. If you're not sure what the status of your membership is, you can go to Member Services >> Check Membership Status. Once you've entered your last name and submit it, you'll get back a status message that will tell you if you are or are not current.

If you're not current but have been a SASFAA member in the past, you can renew your membership by going to Member Services >> Membership Application. You will then be prompted for your SASFAA username and password. If you do not remember what these were, you can select the link associated with "Don't remember your Username/Password?" Your username and password and will e-mailed to your e-mail address on record. If you know that your e-mail address that you had on record is no longer valid, you should contact support@sasfaa.org for assistance in retrieving your username and password. Also, if you submit a password retrieval request and don't receive your username and password in 24-48 hours, then contact support@sasfaa.org for assistance.

Once you have you username and password, you can update your member profile by going to Member Services >> Update Your Profile and logging in. PLEASE REMEMBER that your username and password are case sensitive. Once logged in, you can update your member profile information and submit it. It is updated in the SASFAA membership database in real-time. You can also search for your profile in the database to verify its accuracy by going to Member Services >> Members Only >> Search Membership Directory.

Legislative Relations Committeee Report
Bill Spiers, Chair

The Legislative Relations Committee has a full year ahead of us. With Reauthorization still on the horizon, disaster relief an increasingly important issue, and the need to keep the SASFAA Legislative Guide current, we will have a full, yet productive year.

One of our goals this year is to keep the membership better informed on legislative activities. By the time you receive this newsletter, the Legislative Committee will have begun a monthly legislative report to the SASFAA membership. We have divided our committee into groups who are responsible for scanning the various publications and monitoring activities in Washington.

In addition to the monthly update, we will attempt to give you flash emails when important issues break. These will be items of significance and that need your immediate attention or response. You will know these updates as the subject line will contain the word “FLASH.”

The Legislative Committee is comprised primarily of the state legislative chairs. On occasion you may see us report on activities occurring within our SASFAA region. We will reserve this opportunity for issues that the committee feels would be of interest to the entire SASFAA membership.

As we venture into this new SASFAA year, we must remember that legislative victories are usually incremental. In most cases we don’t get everything we want the first time we ask. It is important that we take small victories and turn them into big success stories. This will not happen because of the Legislative Committee. It will happen, however, if and when we all take the time to respond and make our thoughts and opinions known.

We are your Legislative Committee. If you feel we need to address an issue, contact me at spiersb@tcc.fl.edu. We will take your concern to the committee to see if we can find the answer or make a recommendation. Please let us know how we can serve you best.
