OCTOBER 2005

Site Selection Committeee Report
Ron Gambill, Chair

With the devastating impact of hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi coast, MASFAA President Soraya Welden has worked with the SASFAA Site Selection Chair to move the Mississippi rotation to 2010 instead of 2009. The rotation would then move to South Carolina for 2009 and SCASFAA President Nancy Garmroth has graciously extended the invitation to SASFAA on behalf of the SCASFAA Board. Sites for South Carolina will be visited prior to the SASFAA February Board of Directors’ Meeting in Greensboro, N.C.

Certainly, we all feel concern for those so dramatically affected and look forward to the re-building of the areas impacted.

Sponsorship Committeee Report
Keith Reeves, Chair

All of the services and training opportunities provided by a professional association the size of SASFAA could never be accomplished from membership dues and registration fees alone. It is only with the generous support from sponsors in the commercial and agency sectors that SASFAA is able to provide quality training services to the membership. This year’s sponsorship opportunities are now posted on the SASFAA Web site. Potential sponsors should go to www.sasfaa.org and look for the items under the “Sponsorship” heading.

It is important to remember that there are many opportunities for sponsorship outside of the annual conference. Other major training efforts include the New Aid Officer’s Workshop and the Mid-Level Training Workshop that is co-sponsor with the SWASFAA region. There may also be initiatives by the Diversity committee that will require sponsorship along with a special long-range planning retreat. Of course, the annual conference provides an opportunity for sponsors to showcase their products and services. Additional advertising opportunities are available through advertisements in the newsletters as well as banner ads on the web site.
Questions about sponsorship can be directed to Keith Reeves, SASFAA Sponsorship Chair, Clemson University.

SASFAA Needs Packrats to Take Action!!
Who would ever think anyone would ask for old files? SASFAA will be working this year to determine the status of our archived materials and to list items which may be missing. All SASFAA members are encouraged to begin to look around the office for old annual conference programs, minutes of meetings, and any other SASFAA-related files which could complete some of our missing records.

There will be an official plea in a later Newsletter and on our listserv . This is an alert for folks who might be cleaning out files this fall to save those SASFAA records. Any records can be mailed to:
