Candidate for SASFAA President-Elect
Lisanne Masterson
Candidate Statement
I
am honored and humbled to accept a nomination for the office of SASFAA
President-Elect, and I am excited about the possibilities of moving
forward with SASFAA into the future. If I were to use SASFAA as an
acronym for the qualities I will bring to the position, they would
be Service, Accountability, Stewardship,
Fairmindedness, Approachability,
and Action. Mostly what I bring to the position is
a desire to continue doing what we are doing right, to look for new
and innovative ways to train and inform our members and society about
our profession, to listen to the membership, and to provide sound
and appropriate financial decisions. I possess the desire and the
skills necessary to lead this organization, and have the full support
of my institution to do so.
My resumé lists activities in which I have been involved in
SASFAA and NCASFAA over the past twenty-three years in the profession.
Two key areas of involvement in SASFAA have been through my work on
the Professional Development Committee, serving as Curriculum Coordinator,
then Instructor, in the New Aid Officer’s Workshops, as well
as serving as the 2006 Conference Chair. As a member of NCASFAA, I
designed the Financial Aid Pocket Directory and a Treasurer’s
Manual. My experience in leadership expands beyond financial aid,
where I have served as the President of the NC Federation of Business
& Professional Women, a 1000-member organization which also allowed
me to serve on their National Board.
SASFAA is an exceptional organization with a rich heritage. The 2007-2008
year will mark our 45th Anniversary and will be a time to honor the
past, celebrate the present, and build for the future. If elected,
I promise to uphold the integrity of the association and lay a solid
foundation on which to move forward.
