| Candidate for SASFAA Secretary Candidate Statement My belief is that participation and involvement in our financial aid associations provide the learning curve and tools necessary—through affiliation, association, training and mentoring—to become an effective financial aid professional. And it is through this association that I credit my knowledge base and professional growth. Because of the opportunities that my state and regional associations have provided to me, I hope, if given the opportunity to serve as your secretary, to give back to the SASFAA what it has given to me—outstanding role models, the opportunity for professionalism, and the ability to learn and grow in my “chosen” profession—higher education funding. I will keep the records of the association of the according with the governing bylaws and policies of SASFAA and will perform all duties as assigned in accordance with the requirements of this position. Thank you for the opportunity!
I have been extremely active in VASFAA and NCASFAA, my two designated state associations. I currently serve as the chairperson of the VASFAA Public Relations Committee, and serve as a member of the Conference Committee for NCASFAA. During the many years that I have been a VASFAA member, I have served as committee chairperson, committee member, facilitator, presenter, treasurer, representative-at-large and secretary (the last three being elected Board of Director positions). I work actively, in some capacity, within the associations each year that I am a member because I feel a very strong commitment to the ASFAA’s for the personal and professional growth that I gain through my affiliations. |
