Candidate for President Elect

Celena Tulloss

Statement of Candidacy

When I served as the Tennessee President, my theme was “Family”, and that is truly how I see our profession. I can honestly say that without the friends and mentors I have met along the way, I would not have survived in this business. Our work is hard…satisfying, but hard. Saying no is hard. Expectations continue to rise and resources continue to diminish. Without our “FAA” family, it would be even harder, if not completely unmanageable. Changing regulations, technology advances, budget decreases, campus misunderstandings of what we do, we battle all of these things every day. Our professional associations give us the opportunity to not only learn from one another, to discuss best practices, to “borrow” great ideas, but allow us to vent and decompress from the stresses of the job among friends.

The heart of SASFAA lies in training, in advocacy and in its people. The role of President is deeply involved with all of these. I am truly honored and excited to be nominated for this important position. I could easily sit down and name at least one personal mentor from each of the SASFAA states, and I can only hope to serve as a mentor to those new to our profession. It’s the least I can do to repay all of the kindness and knowledge that has been shared with me over the past 15 years. Thank you SASFAA family for the opportunity to run and for your consideration.
