Candidate for Vice President

Joan Bailey

Statement of Candidacy

It is with great honor and humility that I accept the nomination for SASFAA Vice President. I am dedicated to fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of this position. I have always worked in the education field where teaching/training has been my passion. I welcome the opportunity to share this passion with the financial aid community in the SASFAA region. I am fully committed to serving SASFAA, and promoting continuous training for all financial aid administrators.

I believe my background and experiences have prepared me to take on this role. I have conducted training sessions at the state level at FASFAA Regional Workshops, New Aid Officer workshops and at Annual Conferences for our state association, FASFAA. I have also served as a presenter and a moderator at SASFAA and NASFAA conferences. I have participated as an expert panelist for NASFAA webinars. I thoroughly enjoy working closely with my colleagues and have served on numerous training and professional development committees/task forces at the state, regional and national levels.

I value every opportunity that comes my way, especially ones that allow me to make an impact on students’ lives. I would be honored if entrusted with the responsibility to carry on the great SASFAA tradition of providing quality and effective training opportunities. As the Vice President of SASFAA, I would ensure that SASFAA training opportunities provide exceptional professional development for SASFAA members. Our members are then more prepared to provide new student services and personal connections and care for our students. Our members are also developing their personal network with colleagues for ongoing information sharing and support.

That is my goal and I gratefully accept this nomination and seek your support to fulfill our SASFAA Promise: “to promote the professional preparation of individuals within financial aid; to develop effective programs related to student financial aid; to facilitate communication between all interested parties within the financial aid community; and to continually evaluate and update our services”.
