SASFAA Webinar - Legislation for Homeless and Foster Youth

Join us on Thursday, March 28th at 2:00pm.

Homeless and foster youth face unique and significant barriers to accessing and succeeding in higher education.  Join us for a discussion of the bipartisan “Higher Education Access and Success for Homeless and Foster Youth Act of 2019”, from a national non-profit advocating for the bill, Schoolhouse Connection (https://www.schoolhouseconnection.org/ ), and from a school who is already implementing some of the provisions on their campus.

This legislation seeks to remove barriers to higher education access and completion for homeless and foster youth by:

•         Streamlining the process of applying for and receiving financial aid

•         Designating liaisons to help provide students with access to services and support

•         Providing access to housing options

•         Ensuring that college access programs identify, recruit, and prepare homeless and foster students for college
