Welcome The Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators is an anchor for it's membership. Professionals, both new and seasoned, from public and private four-year colleges &
universities, community colleges, graduate & professional schools,
career schools, student lending organizations, guarantors, consulting
groups, government agencies, and financial aid software companies find value in SASFAA membership. Together, everyone in our business helps students afford a higher education. We believe in what we do. But with ever-changing financial aid regulations, organizational priorities, strategies, and technology, our world has become very dynamic and complex. It’s critical these days to stay on top of these changes. Benefits of SASFAA membership include networking with experienced colleagues, up-to-date information on federal changes and new aid programs, participation in important legislative advocacy efforts, nationally renowned training programs for all levels (New Aid Officers Workshop for the beginner, Leadership Symposium for emerging leaders and Management Institute for directors, policy-makers, and leaders in the profession), an active listserv that allow constant communication with your peers (including financial aid announcements, relevant articles and job postings), volunteer opportunities and leadership positions, and a 4-day annual conference that invites experts from the U.S. Department of Education and financial aid organizations throughout the country to share knowledge and best practices. Membership dues are only $35. It's undeniably the most affordable way to stay tapped into our profession today. It takes the whole team to achieve SASFAA's goals and initiatives, and we need you! Leign Ann Hussey, 2024-2025 SASFAA President Membership Classifications There are four classes of membership within SASFAA: Active, Honorary, Associate, and Retired. Active membership is open to individuals who are associated with the administration and support of student financial aid in post-secondary institutions of education, in government offices and agencies, in lending institutions and organizations, and in other private, community or civic organizations or programs, and are located in, or have administrative responsibility in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia. Annual membership dues must be paid. Associate membership is open to individuals who are not eligible for active, honorary, or retired membership who have primary job duties and responsibilities that fall in areas other than the administration and support of student financial aid in post-secondary institutions of education, in government offices and agencies, in lending institutions and organizations and in other private, community, or civic organizations or programs but for whom financial aid administration is secondary or related job responsibility, or have primary job duties and responsibilities that include the administration and support of student financial aid in post-secondary institutions of education outside the SASFAA region. Annual membership dues must be paid. Honorary membership may be presented to persons who have performed outstanding service in the field of support and/or administration of student financial aid and who are voted Honorary membership by the Board. Retired membership may be presented to individuals who were actively engaged for at least 10 years in the administration of student financial aid or have been approved for this membership category by a majority vote of the Board, and are no longer employed in the financial aid profession, and are not eligible for active, honorary, or associate membership.
